Backup Consolidation Failing

Thread needs solution

Hi All,

I'm using Acronis TrueImage 2014 with two backup drives and two incremental backup jobs, every time I run a backup I get the following errors after the backup has been done (but still within the same job), these happen one after the other:

"Failed to exclusively access backup N:\My backups\Daily Backup\Tuesday & Thursday - Full_full_b2_s1_v1.tib during consolidation. Make sure the backup file is not opened in other applications."

"Failed to open data stream. Try to remove the backup from the list, add it again by clicking 'Browse for backup' and recreate the backup settings."

"Failed to exclusively access backup N:\My backups\Daily Backup\Tuesday & Thursday - Full_full_b2_s1_v1.tib during consolidation. Make sure the backup file is not opened in other applications."

"Operation has completed with errors."

Nothing else is accessing the files on the backup drive, I've disabled the anti-virus from scanning the backup drives (even disabling it completely and testing and it still fails) the backup itself works fine, it backs up what it's asked, but when it gets to archiving the older backups it fails.

Doing a manual consolidation routine also causes that to fail and asks me to check the log, but a log can't be seen anywhere, I expect the log will say the same as above.

This is happening for both my backups on two separate external hard drives, I found a rough KB article on it that involved process explorer which I used and found only Acronis itself had access to any .tib files as I would expect.

TrueImage is also fully up to date on build 6673.

Is there a way to simply say "Delete backups when older than x amount of days" instead of going through the process of consolidating them all? Or is there something I can do to stop the errors happening and keep consolidation enabled.

Any help would be appreciated.

Would you mind posting a screen capture of
your main menu listing the tasks,
a picture of each backup scheme,
plus a picture of each storage folder.
This would hlep me to understand your settings.

The setting involving x number of dayis has never worked for me and my advice to users is to avoid this setting.
There are other settings which are more dependable. I also advise to avoid any consolidation which involves the merging of user data.

Hi Grover,

I won't be at the computer until a bit later today (its my home PC) so will get those captures for you and post them here.
