backup doesn't find path anymore

Thread needs solution

Hello,

I am using Acronis True Image Home 2011 (Windows 7). Since the installation of the product I do regular incremental backups (full system backup (3 partitions)) on my NAS drive. This was working fine for a long time. Only in the beginning after a couple of backups, I had an issue because TIH did not find the path to my backups anymore. That was very weird because I could access it easy via the file explorer and within TIH I could also explore the backups. But making new backups gave an issues since it was not able to locate the backups anymore. After a short while I decided to remove my backups and start all over again with a new backup configuration. But now 6 months and lots of backups later suddenly I have the same issue again.
Now I do not want to remove my backups because there is a lot of data which I do not want to loose by redoing it all from scratch. I attached the logfile to this post. I have the Dutch version but translated, it seems a problem that TIH doesn't find the path to my backup for some reason although in Windows Explorer I have no issue at all to go to the backup with the path of the backup.

All help will be appreciated. I really have no clue anymore

Hello,

many thanks for this fast response but when reading the post you are referencing to, it is not really clear what I have to do.
Is it possible to clarify a little what exaclty I should do to be able to continue the chain of incremental backups I was maintaining ?
I had configured TIH in such a way that I made incremental backups (chain of 6) and always kept 2 chains while the older chains were automatically removed by TIH. Now with this problem, I am stuck in the middle of a chain. I would like to be able to continue that chain to keep structure in my backups.

Do I understand correctly that this is a bug in TIH 2011 ? What do you suggest to avoid this problem in the future ? Does this problem still exist in later versions of TIH (2012 ?) ? Would the use of zip file instead of tib avoid this problem ?

many thanks for your feedback,

Ime, this and a family of related issues are a problem inherent in the design of ati since version ati2009 or so, since ati began using an internal database. Acronis seems to have tried to fix the issues a number of ways but, ime, has not been wholly successful.

I suggest deleting the chains and tasks and creating new ones.

Thanks for your feedback. I will recreate new chains and keep the old ones just a little and than remove them once my new chains are up and running for some time. This time I will go for the zip format. Will I avoid this problem with the zip format ? By the way I do a full system backup of 3 partitions.

many thanks for your feedback,

Jan,

The last update to 2011 contained many fixes but one problem still continues which is "Editing a ongoing task" does cause problems. It may correct itself over time but usually the best solution (as stated by Scott) is to start over with a new task pointing to an empty target folder or sub-folder.
