Backup Explorer Makes Program Crash

Thread needs solution

I am trying to restore one file -- and am having extreme difficulties accessing the Backup Explorer and making it work correctly.

I have followed all the instructions I've found, and have looked through the forum and have tried suggestions. BUT -- With everything I try, I either get "Not Responding" then the program crashes, or the program just crashes:

1) Just finding the Backup Explorer is ridiculously difficult.

2) A Right Click on the Backup name does not work. I just get my normal default right-click menu that is not program-specific.

3) With a left click on the Backup, sometimes a window opens--but:

  • In that window, the path of the Backup does not show up correctly
  • The only option is "My computer"--whereas, my backup is located in a folder on one of my external drives
  • When I do click My Computer, either the program crashes, or a link to "View Versions" appears, and then when I click that -- the program crashes

OR

  • When I click on the date or time of the Backup at the bottom of the window, either nothing happens, or I get "Not Responding" or the program crashes.

I'm extremely frustrated and am losing confidence in the program. Restoring a file from a Backup should be a simple process; instead, the program makes it hard to find the procedure and then, when found, all sorts of bugs impede.
