Backup ignoring max storage size

Thread needs solution

TIH 2011

I created a scheduled backup running daily:

create a full version after every 10 differential versions

no specified max disk space

I ran out of disk space on the backup drive after what appears to be 1 full and 11 differentials. It is using 1.2TB.

I changed the backup to:

10 versions with 600GB max storage.

Has not released any storage and persists in failing trying that 11th differential.

It appears that a storage limit setting either does not take precidence over the number of differential versions parameter - which seems wrong. Space is an absolute limit and versions can only be guesses because the files are compressed.

And/or changing the storage parameter is not recognized.

How may this be resolved?

Hello Harold,

Thank you for posting. I will do my best to help you with this issue.

Instead of editing the backup task, could you please create a new backup task with the new settings that you wrote about. This will help us localize the issue because it appears that either the settings are not working or the changes are not getting reflected when you edit the task.

Can you create a video or a series of screenshots of all your settings so that we can have a more clear picture of the problem? Also, I would really appreciate this report.

If you need additional help, please let me know.

Thank you.

It might also help if, when you create the new task, you also remove any exiting backups (save them to some other place) or else make the new task write to a diff directory.
