Backup name change?
Hi,
With Acronis True Image 2014 I find the addition of the extension to the file name I choose to be a problem when using full non-incremental backups so how do I stop that extension being added to the file name.
Currently I back up to the root of my NAS drive then move the file into the folder I where I need it to be, 1 of 3.
In older version as the names where the same it would then ask me if I wanted to overwrite the existing file name as the names were the same, that was useful as it gave the date of the file to be overwritten so if I had chosen the wrong folder I could see that immediately.
With the current naming convention that does not happen as the names will always be different because of the extension.
I don't care that the file cannot be found in the database as I can always point it to the correct location to the file, this only happens if I need to restore from a system disk where the database does not exist anyway!

Hi Pat,
Thanks for the info.
The database is irrelevant when using the recovery cd as it doesn't exist as far as as I understand it.
Of course with a full non incremental backup the recovery just needs to be pointed to the correct file location, I have done that once before successfully.
So I don't see why it is not possible to save the file without the added extension.
Renaming is about as much as a pain as having to check the location's old file date, so that is not really a big help.
