Backup reserve copy
I don't like the way the "Backup reserve copy" copies *all* of the backup files even for incremental/differential backups. (I wondered why the incrementals were taking a long time - then I noticed a list of 78GB files on my external drive!)
What I want to do is a single backup task (probably differential) that backs up everything to D:\Data Backup\xxx. I then want a duplicate copy of the new file on my external Z: drive.
So I guess the best way to achieve this is to turn off the Backup Reserve Copy option and use a Post command to copy the new file to the external drive.
I couldn't see much in the help file so does anyone know how I can determine the name of the backup file just created? (Or point me in the direction of more complete documentation for Pre/Post commands)
Cheers
Simon

I have the same problem as Simon. Why shouldn't the reserve copy be just an exact copy of the main backup files? This makes a lot of sense.
Here is my scenario:
I do a daily incremental backup. The first day's backup is about 150GB and takes around 3 hours. Subsequent incremental backups are about 0.1GB. This means I can backup for many months to my primary backup disk without having to worry about disk space. The problem is that each reserve copy is 150GB (produced every day!). It fills up my external hardrive in only 4 days and adds another couple of hours to the backup cycle.
I have had to stop making a reserve backup because of this.

Hello David,
Thank you very much for your suggestion.
I've forwarded your request to the responsible department and probably we'll implement this feature (to make a reserve copies of the full backups only) in future versions of Acronis True Image.
Please let me know if you have any additional questions.
Thank you.

Thanks Ilya. That is a good step forward. Can I ask why you don't make to make a reserve of the daily incrementals as well? If you did, the reserve backup would be more useful, particulrly if someone is only doing full backups monthly.

The True Image Home 2011 User Guide explains that Reserve backups will always be FULL backups, even if the "main" backup is incremental or differential.
