backup of TI-2010 with versus withou plus-pack

Thread needs solution

With regard to the TI-2010 plus pack:

Question:
If I make a backup withOUT being licensed for the "plus pack" and then find myself in a situation where I need the univeral restore ablity. Can I simply go buy the license and use it to perform my restore onto the disimilar hardware? Or is this something where I need to make the backup with the "plus pack" installed so should the need to restore onto dis-similar hardware occurs then my backup ".tib" file contains what the univeral restore needs to be effective.

I'm looking or a little bit of advice here as to when to time my purchase if the plus pack (if ever).

Before you even consider the Plus Pack because it has UR, make sure someone here or someone you know has success using UR from the PP. I know someone who tried and it didn't work.

Thank you for the feedback and the buyer beware warning.
The TI-2010 release, its bugs, this forums posts and pleas for support given has driven this point home.
My question is begins as a techinical nature.

Is there any difference at ALL from a UR perspective between a backup taken with plus pack installed versus it not?

Hello oracledba,

I understand the question and will do everything possible from my side to solve the issue.

There is no need to create a backup archive with Plus Pack add-on install. You can purchase this separate add-on later in case you will have to restore the system to dissimilar hardware. Before restoring an image of your operating system, please ensure the following:

Check the following KB article for more details concerning recover the image of your system to a machine with dissimilar hardware using Plus Pack.

Let me know if you need further assistance.

Thank you.
