Backup to USB 1T Seagate Hybrid Drive - Drive not recognised
Hello,
Can anyone help?
**My goal**
To migrate my laptop Windows 8.1 GPT OS disk from an old 1T drive to a shiny new 1T Seagate Hybrid drive.
**Things I've tried**
1. Physically replaced my old 1T laptop drive and booted using an Acronis 2014 boot CD. Then I connected the old 1T OS disk via USB, and tried to perform a clone.
RESULT = FAILED: Target Hybrid drive not recognised. Acronis True Image states unsupported drive in greyed-out writing next the list of potential drives to clone to.
2. I then put my old 1T OS drive back in the laptop, booted into Windows 8.1, and did a backup of the entire drive using Acronis True Image installed on Windows. This 'successful' backup was to another standard (non-Hybrid) USB external drive. I then connected my new 1T Hybrid Drive to a second USB port and tried to perform a Restore to the Hybrid drive.
RESULT = FAILED: Target Hybrid drive connected via USB was listed but was greyed-out, so I couldn't select it as a target disk to recover the backup image to.
3. Thinking my new drive was faulty I used windows to initialise it and format it with NTFS.
RESULT = SUCCESS: The drive formatted correctly, it was given a drive letter by Windows 8.1 and I copied files over to it without any problems. I also ran some SMART tests and the drive was in perfect working order.
**Question**
Is there a special way in which to configure my 1T Hybrid drive to work with Acronis True Image 2014?
Any input/thoughts welcome that can help me on my way.

Enchantech,
Thank you for your help and that KB article. Not sure why my search didn't come with that gem. Regardless, it's really disappointing.
Anyway, that's really disappointing. Hybrid drives aren't new, and indeed Acronis 2014 TI successfully recognised an older 750GB hybrid drive from Seagate. However, that was on the Windows 7 platform. Regardless, the KB confirms it's not supported.
On a more positive note, someone on the forums suggested using Windows 8.1 System Image option and that's working a treat! To use Windows imaging do the following:
NOTE: These instructions are for Windows 8.1! You must also have Windows 8.1 Administrator profile/rights.
BACKUP
-> Control Panel
-> Action Center (Top left-hand corner in "Small Icons" view)
-> File History (Bottom left-hand corner)
-> System Image Backup (Bottom left-hand corner)
RESTORE TO NEW DRIVE
-> Create a System Recovery drive (USB Stick or DVD) by going into Control Panel -> Recovery -> Create a Recovery Drive -> [Click Next] -> Select the available drives. Note the "create DVD" option will not appear if you have a USB drive or memory stick connected.
-> Install new hard drive into laptop or PC and boot up using the recovery drive that you just created.
-> Select the option to recover from System Image which should be located on an external USB hard disc.
END - Your new hard disc should now boot with the restored image.
