Backup/Restore Windows EFS directories with TIH 2009?
Windows XP Pro SP3
TI Home 2009
I've plowed through the forum archives and didn't find an answer to these questions.
I'm considering turning on Windows encryption for a couple of directories and am concerned about backup and restore.
I do image backups and run a full backup followed by 6 incremental backups and then repeat the cycle.
The backups are run under a separate user ID, which is used only for backups, although that user is a member of the Administrator group.
Can the backup process, run under a user ID different from that which encrypted the directories and files, successfully back up these encrypted files?
Can I later restore individual encrypted directories or files, running with the original user ID?
In the event of a catastrophic computer failure, will I be able to restore these backed up files and directories, either from bootable media or a re-installed TI Home product?
Does the current version of TI Home handle EFS files and directories differently? I've been perfectly happy with TIH 2009 so far, but will move up if I have to.
