Blue Screen of Death
I had to uninstall 2012 (full registered version) because my hp pavilion laptop Pavilion DV7 kept crashing and would restart. After uninstalling and running the cleanupfor 2012 everything seems stable again at this point. Any one else having BSOD issues ????

Today I downloaded on my new computer Acronis True Image 2012. I ran the program as administrator. Almost immediately after the download started to install the program, my Norton Anti-Virus popped up a box that said "this program is unstable" and in about 3 to 5 seconds I got the Blue Screen of Death. When I rebooted the blue screen said to install the re-boot disk. Since I bought my pc at Best Buy I took it back and the Geek SQuad initall check indicated there was absoulty nothing on either the hard drive or solid state drive. Fortunatley they made recover disks when I purshased it last week. They kept the pc to reload the operating system and will then have to reinstrall all the data and programs from my old pc. Don't know what this will cost. Anyone else have this problem?
I previously have used Acronis for 5 or 6 years and never had a problem. When they fix my pc I am very hesitant to download Acronis again.

Terry,
Norton's can cause annoying problems - try disabling it including it's background engine when you install 2012, then re-enable. Depending on how you have your A/V and firewall set up will depend if you need to specifically allow 2012 to access various ports on your system and be ignored by Nortons'.

Follow1 up to 11/12/post. Geek Squad was able to reinstall operating system and then transfer all the files from my old pc. They said the problem may have been caused by my pc having a hard drive and a solid state drive. I hope this helps others. I will not be installing Acronis on my new pc. Any suggestions on other software?

I used Ghost for many years and it just worked...I've had 2011 and now 2012 and consistently having problems with them (errors, auto clean up not working, corrupted backup). I regreat the decision to go with Acronis.

The bad news Terry, Is that my setup uses a Crucial SSD for the OS and three Sata disk drives for the data and imaging drives - and it all works quite happily. I don't think that is where your problem lies. It is possible that some SSD's might not be seen especially with the boot media, but I think there has only been one or two specific models where that has been reported.
As I wrote Nortons can be problematical, but I have been biased against Nortons since around 2000 when they changed the way their product works. Is you machine a brand name or a Heinz 57 type?
If it is a Dell it is possible that some of the Dell background utilities are causing a conflict.
