"Bootable Rescue Media Builder" will not fit on CD !!

Thread needs solution

I have just upgraded to TI 2015 as I have a new win8 laptop I want to image prior to use.

So on my old win xp laptop I have installed TI 2015 with the intention of burning a rescue CD which I can then use to boot the new laptop with and create a backup image before doing windows setup etc.

However when I run rescue media builder with recommend and default options it says I need 766mb of space on my CD-R. No problem, I have just been and bought some 800mb CD-R's from Maplin. However when I try to burn the image it says I don't have enough space on the CD-R. Now 766 is definitely smaller than 800mb so it should fit! The CD-R disc was brand new.

How do I create a BOOT CD for TRUE IMAGE 2015 ??

I only have CD burner in my old laptop.

Hi Neil,

Yes, I had the same experience. I resolved the problem by burning to a DVD-R instead.

I'm afraid all I can suggest is either you upgrade the drive (likely to be expensive if, indeed, possible) or you purchase an external USB DVD Writer. However, that will only be of value if your Laptop BIOS allows booting from an external drive. The other option might be to create an ISO file on a USB flash drive and boot from that.

I have come with a plan B! Create bootable image on USB flash drive. Image the new laptop to a backup drive. Then setup new win8 laptop and then transfer TI 2015 license to new laptop. Then I can use new laptop to burn a bootable DVD disc.

Another option is to download the iso bootable media file from your acronis account.
Youcan then copy the iso from your computer toa flash drive as a normal file.
Then take the flash drive to a friend's house and burn the iso file onto a new DVD
using the friends computer.
The DVD is generic so it can be burnt on any computer with DVD burner.
