Thread needs solution

I have Acronis TI 2010.
I recently purchased a new notebook (HP Folio13-1016TU Ultrabook). This comes with a Recovery (D:} partition, used to restore the factory software (surprisingly, this partition is not hidden). As this machine has a rather small SSD drive I would like to store this factory software elsewhere and add this space to C:.

I can remove my C: drive, then restore it from an Acronis .tib file on a 400GB partition on an external 2TB SATA drive. A powered USB hub runs the external HD, and also an external optical drive running an Acronis bootable CD.

However, I want to restore this factory O/S to a small partition on the external HDD, then boot from this factory system to verify the validity of my .tib file of this factory partition. When I try this I get an error message about .
Can someone please suggest what I am doing wrong?

The recovery partition on the system is usually only used to recover the system at boot time. (Sometimes the ability to create recovery CD/DVD disks depend on this partition also). The MBR (Master Boot Record)/boot track contains information about the location of the recovery partition on the hard drive. Moving it or changing its size can make the recovery partition inaccessible to the system. Also if there is a key combination that can be pressed at boot time to start the recovery process (BIOS dependent) thay key press combination will also fail to work if the partition does not exist or is moved or changed. You can perform a full disk backup of your SSD drive that contains all the partitions on your drive, and save it for recovery/restore later. You then could modify the recovery partition or remove it, as you could replace it later. You need to print a copy ( or screen capture) of your current disk layout and save it with the backup to be able to properly place the partition structure to what is was at purchase if you ever wish to recover to the factory settings. If there is a utililty to create factory recovery disks, the recovery partition would no longer be need to do that anyway.
