browsing a backup to the Mac desktop

Thread needs solution

My original iPhoto library mysteriously disappeared and a different library opened with iPhoto. I thought that somehow the original library was deleted and decided to attempt to recover it from my ATI backup. Unfortunately, I could not find it there. After considerable fruitless searching, in a chat session with ATI support, I was referred to a useless KB article which was brief, and not on point. On my own, the hard way, I discovered the missing library, in a folder on my Mac’s Desktop (how it got there is a mystery, probably some stupid thing I did). Although I was quite pleased to find it, I still wanted to find it in my ATI backup, to develop confidence in navigating ATI backups for possible future search purposes. Without that understanding, I believe, I would have difficulty in browsing an ATI backup to any item on the my Mac’s desktop.

In a second support chat session with ATI I, therefore, sought help in browsing my ATI backup to my Mac’s Desktop there. Although my MAC’s desktop is listed in and accessible from the sidebar of my Mac’s Finder, I could not find the corresponding Desktop in my ATI backup. The best that the support rep could suggest, short of a paid support session on the “archive browsing issue” with a “valid support program”, was to browse the backup under the “Applications” listing. It was’nt there.

Can anyone out there tell me how to navigate my ATI backup to my iMac’s desktop there? That’s all I need to know to resolve this issue.
