Can Acronis 2011 mount a weekly ( 3 times a week) version tib file

Thread needs solution

Have a weekly backup of my user/outlook files/folders set or Tues-Thurs-Sun. No issues with the scheduling operations...but I can not 'mount' any of the backed-up tibs....get the error in the attached jpg ?

I'm having a good deal of trouble understand the workings of incremental vs differenctial...the pdf user manual hasn't helped much

When I try to mount a weekly file backup operation I get the error also attached.

Is there a way to folder compare different version of a weekly file -not system - backup without opening each version day and manually/visually comparing entry by entry.

I have a great program called BeyondCompare that compares and shows the content of any 2 folders quickly and seamlessly including file and date of each individual file in that folder...

But...I can't get BeyondCompare to read a tib file...it has some letter/number jiberish...but not the normally simple text readout of each folder and it's files. If I could "mount" the individual Acronis incremental file backups I could get the files mounted in Windows Explorer

Is there a way to "mount" Acronis tib file/folder incremental file/folder backups (not system image total backkup diskbackups) for tibs in Windows Explorer ?

Thanks....TiminAz

Just double click the .tib file to open it in Windows Explorer. You can not mount a file/folder based backup only disk/partition backups.

Thanks James...still having troubles understanding the file/folder backup tib creation(s).

Have a scheduled backup of files/folders on Tuesday, Thursday, & Saturday (settings_Acronis.jpg below)

For the last 3 weeks then I should have 9 or so tibs (Tuesday, Thursday, & Saturday x 3 weeks )...but as you can see in (consolidate.jpg) there are 28 listed tib file/folder backups ?

Also when I consolidate backups...is consolidation only just for that week...or is it for all daily tibs created under the Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday schedule ?

I don't understand why each section in consolidate.jpg (below) has numerous small entries, ie. xxx,xxx KB's, but also has one large backup x,xxx, xxx kbs as in MyBackup(9) on 11/9 ?? Is MyBackup(9) a consolidation of all MyBackup(9)x tibs displayed in consolidated.jpg below?

What are MyBackup(8) , MyBackup(8)2 , MyBackup(8)3 etc thru MyBackup(8)7 - they appear to b the backups created in mid-October...but that alone would be 2 out of 3 weeks...why then are not backups (6) and (7) deleted by now ?

You are using the Version Chain scheme as defined by Acronis. This scheme is designed to be run on a daily schedule.
see: http://www.acronis.com/support/documentation/ATIH2013/index.html#10805…

Since you are running it 3 days a week, Acronis is having a hard time with the deletions/consolidations.
The backup files you have are sets (version chains). The first file name in a backup version chain ends either without a number after the file or with a number in parentheses. The subsequent backups that belong to the chain will have 2,3,4,5, etc. appended to the new files. In the scheme you are using these files are incremental backups based on the base file in the version chain. The largest and earliest files in the chain are full backups, with additional incremental backup files following. Since the Version Chain scheme is designed to be run daily and keep one month of backup data, I am assuming Acronis is really confused about what to delete, and what type of backup to perform (full or incremental) based on you only having three backups a week.

I would set up a new task using you own custom rules for retention/consolidation.
See Grover's guide (Thanks Grover) here: http://forum.acronis.com/forum/28705

If you were to start a manual consolidation of a backup task, you can decide which backup dates to keep and the resulting number of files kept will be based on your selections.

OK..thanks so much...makes sense now...the "extras" are apparently manual backups I did. Is there a way to tell a 'manual' backup from a 'scheduled' backup ?

I'm assuming the file/folders backup setup for ATHI2013 are/were the same for my ATHI2011 version ?

I would assume that looking at the file creation dates and times, you could then determine if they were run on your schedule or not.

Sorry, I meat to post a link to 2011, but my brain went to sleep while I was typing.
This is the correct link for 2011: http://kb.acronis.com/content/13656#
