Can I back up and restore virtual os

I have win 7 64 bit home premium. On this i have a virtual XP 3 2bit home in Virtual Box. I want to move the virtual to vmware workstation.

Vmware has no os yet. If I install my xp disk in vmware can I then back up the virtual Box XP and restore it to vmware?
