I am purchasing a dell windows 7 system with a RAID 1 drive.

I want to partition the drive into two so that the OS and Data are on separate drives

if my os gets corrupted, i want to restore an earlier version

1. will i run into any problems with this
2. any tips on the best approuch to avoid problems

You should be great with TI Home 2010. The only thing I anticipate causing problems is if you have to repartition the hard drive. Windows Vista and 7 rely on a disk signature and partition offset to identify drives, so if you do need to format the entire drive and re-partition it, I recommend a full disk backup and restore. Otherwise, you should be good to go with backup of only the OS partition.

Disclaimer - I have no personal experience with RAID 1, but my RAID 0 system is supported by TI.

i dont want to image all my data. can i image the os and the disk singiture only?

I just realized I am answering the same person's questions on two different threads. Note in the other thread that since you aren't multibooting, you probably don't have to worry too much about the disk signature. Windows will figure it out. Simply create images of your system partition.
