Can you make it a little more complicated to create rescue media ??

Thread needs solution

I was trying to make rescue media for the first time, and do you know what the first step is?? PERFORM A FULL UNINSTALL OF *ALL* THE SOFTWARE AND REBOOT.

How could such well-regarded software have been written so horribly, as to require a full uninstall of the software as the first step to making rescue media? You are in a maze of twisty passages, all different. When I tried to run the program, it said that the rescue media creator was not installed, you must install it. When I ran setup, it said that I had an updated version of the software and could not change it. When I ran the "Rescue Media Creator Icon" (Why is this useless icon there?? Just to confuse people!) It said, "What components do you wish to install" and it gave me a choice of ... wait for it ... NONE !!!

So to win the war I had to first, shoot the general. I fully uninstalled Acronis True Image 2009, which involved 10 mins of trying to re-type the serial code, correctly! What other SNAFUs await? I can hardly wait to find out! Please tell me that there are no further things like this in the software, of which I have (apparently, mistakenly) purchased two copies ?!?!!

This is an unreasonable, confidence-destroying first step, in my first serious use of Acronis True Image 2009. Previously, it had been backing up this machine weekly. Have I now been forced to destroy my backup schedule, in order to create a bootable USB drive ??

I have just completed a full uninstall, and re-install. So I have now gone through 30 minutes of hassles to add a 58 MB file to my disk? Unbelievable...

And so, the nightmare continues ... Acronis has twice told me, "Rescue Media Created", but it won't boot on a thinkpad T420 or a T42. So I decided to once again, upgrade my verison of Acronis and I downloaded the 2009 image from the website. After installation (which failed the first time, by the way, and was repaired a 2nd time), it said, "You must reboot in order to use this software, do you want to reboot now?" And so, I rebooted the computer.

Now when I ran the software (after rebooting), it says, "Acronis True Image has to reboot in order to use this software, do you want to reboot right now?"

So I am stuck in an infinite loop, apparently, having wasted 90 minutes (and counting), with zero progress to show for it ...

Is there a warrant of merchantability for this product??

I mean, if the product says it can do something, like create a bootable USB stick, when it really cannot, can I get my money back?

Acronis offere a 30 day money back guarantee. If interested and you qualify, contact Aconris support via the link in upper right corner of this webpage.

Hello Don,
Based on your description, it sounds like you experienced some installation issues with the software. 2009 does require a restart after install, but if you are continuing to see this message, or are having problems running the program, there is something else wrong.

The program does not prompt to uninstall and reinstall in order to create bootable media using the software, so it seems there is another issue?

I always download and burn bootable CD images from my Acronis Account. This allows you to get the latest build for the version you own. The .iso images are easy to burn using Nero, Roxio or ImageBurn which is free.

Of course, you can use your installed software to make the same boot media if you wish.

Although 2009 works pretty well with W7, I found that 2012 and 2013 have better hardware support for certain storage controllers.

The MVP's here as well as Acronis Support would be happy to try and assist you if you wish.
