CANNOT ASSIGN A DRIVE LETTER — TI v6

Thread needs solution

Although this topic (or similar) appears across this forum, I'm starting a new thread because I'm using a REALLY VERY OLD version of TI (because I like its simplicity!), and the other answers are all for later versions.

I have XP SP3 and TI OEM Edition v6.0.0.342. I run regular partition image backups (*.tib) to a portable USB drive, and on my desktop machine have never had any problem with restoring individual files by mounting the image as a temp drive and selecting files from it.

Now the desktop machine has died, and until a replacement arrives I'm using my laptop, which has the same XP/OEM Edition v6 programs running. I need to copy a few files from the backup, but now I'm getting the message . I've tried disabling my anti-virus program, but it makes no difference.

I'm concerned that when the new machine arrives it may also be unable to read these vital backups. Any suggestions gratefully received.

CLARIFICATION...

In the above post I put quotes round the error message, and the forum program interpreted them wrongly. The message is:

"Cannot assign a drive letter to a partition from the image archive"

Just to make it clear, there is only ONE partition within each *.tib.
