Cannot Cancel or Browse to continue

Thread needs solution

I am using TIHE Ver 2011 on Win 7 Pro 64bit. After it working well for several months I am now getting a "File I/O error" stating "Click Retry to continue with Volume 14 or click Cancel to cancel operation". Cancel doesn't work and I can't cancel and I haven't been able to browse to or find "Volume 14" on my back up drive. The only way I can get out is to use Task Manager to kill TIHE. How can I find browse to and find the Volume? Or, how can I get out of the loop and recreate a new backup task?

Michael,

What build are you using?

What type of task are you running?

What happens if you make a new task?

I suspect part of your image archive might be corrupted.

Have you upgraded Windows at all recently? If you have has this occurred after installing for example the SP1?

Is this to an external or internal drive? Have you tried connectign the drive if external on another port?

I would also run chkdsk /r on the drive holding the image just in case TI is having a problem accessing it.

I'm not sure what build and can't get to help-about to find out. As I said if I click on the cancel button nothing happens except for the getting the Windows error sound.

Likewise for getting to make a new task - that was what my second question referred to.

I may have a corrupted image archive but can't tell. How can I check it without accessing TIHE; I do have the Disk Director also?

No recent updates to Windows other than the almost daily patches MS send out. I have not yet installed Sp 1, won't until I have a weekend to clean up any messes it makes. I'm running a heavy duty CAD workstation with most of the goodies and even patches sometimes hiccup with my CAD package or graphics card.

External HD on USB2. No but I will try that tonight. I did try rebooting, no effect; and I also swapped drives also no effect because I can't use get to browse for location or set up another task. I can see the drive correctly with Windows explorer.

I'll also try running chkdsk /r tonight. Should I use the widows check disk or the one with Disk Director?

In Windows 7 using the version of ATI that you have do the following to find out your build number.

Start up Acronis then click on the Help Icon on the top right of the screen.
Then click on the option "About Acronis True Image Home"

The current latest build which I am running is 6996

Can't get past the error notice! I won't let me cancel so I can do that. Once TIHE is invoked the error notice comes up and I am stuck. The only thing I can do is kill it with Task Manager. (I did know where to look but can't get there.) Thanks for the help anyway.

Michael.

Can you post some screen snips of TIH when it's causing your problem - a picture might just be enough for the brain to spring into action.

Have you tried making a repair install? Run the installer again and select repair.
