Cannot find disc drives
I am using Windows XP professional. I have just changed my motherboard to a Gigabyte G41MT-ES2L with a Pentium(R) Dual Core CPU and 4GB of RAM (although Windows only sees 3.21GB) and have changed my HDD to a Seagate 500GB Barracuda 7200.12 SATA, as both components were giving occasional problems. The hard drive was cloned from the old one using Acronis TI 10 installed on it. At the time of cloning, obviously Acronis could see the new drive. With the new setup, however, immediately on being run Acronis reports that it cannot find any hard disc drives. I shall be very grateful if anyone knows a solution. Thanks.

This is when in Windows. I assume I will have to create a new backup task, with a full backup of the new drive followed by incremental backups. However, when I open Acronis it immediately tells me that it cannot find any hard disc drives.

Have you installed the new motherboard drivers?
The low level drivers that TI provides might be having a problem talking to the low level motherboard drivers that are in registry.
Have you tried a repair install of TI?

Yes, I had installed the new motherboard drivers, but I had not tried a repair install of TI. I have now done this, but the result is still the same: when TI is run from the hard drive, it cannot see the hard drive. Interestingly, when I did the required reboot after the repair installation, I had failed to remove the CD and the computer booted to it. Booted from the CD, TI can indeed see the hard drive.

Hello Dave and Colin!
Thank you for finding time to open the thread and for your comments!
Colin, thank you for your valuable assistance!
Dear Dave, I entirely understand your concern and will do my best to help you. Unfortunately Acronis True Image Home 10 is an outdated product: it's not supported, developed and updated anymore, so it may not recognise modern hardware due to the lack of drivers.
We can try updating those, but in case it won't help, there are not many options left. But let's try it anyway.
Please download and install onto the problem machine the following drivers update package: http://download.acronis.com/support/SnapAPI.337_s_e.msi
Please note that this SnapAPI update is suitable only for Acronis True Image Home 10. Should you have another version of Acronis Software you might need another SnapAPI version.
Should the issue persist, I'd advise you to test the latest Acronis True Image Home 2011 and see whether it works better. You can find it's functionality description in the User's Guide: we've changed the GUI and added new functionality, so you may find it useful.
Should you need anything else or have any further questions - feel free to contact us at your earliest convenience, we will be happy to help you!
Thank you!
