Cannot find file or folder - windows has changed portable drive letter

Thread needs solution

I have been using True Image for a few months, and making incremental backups to G:\Backup folder on a portable hard drive.
For some reason, windows 7 has reassigned the portable drive letter to H

Now True Image gives an error message:
"can't find the file or folder. If it is located on a removable media or remote storage, then make sure that the storage device is connected .... etc"

And there is no way I can find to tell the software where the backup has moved to.
So it is now useless...

Any thoughts on this?

Looks like you may have plugged another external drive in and Windows gave that G, so your other drive becomes H. Your backup is safe and usable but you need to permanently assign G to the drive. Type diskmgmt.msc into Start > Search and right click your portable drive. Click Change Drive Letter and Paths... and click Change. Use the dropdown to select G. You will get a warning - accept that and you should be good to go.

In the event you are not offered G, because it's already assigned, you will need to reassign the drive using G to some other letter first. That will free G up.
