Cannot recover any backup
I bought ATIH 2012. Obviously today I consider this a major mistake. For past year I made some backups and today I need to recover for the first time. It doesn't work. Every time I show the disk/partition to recover it's marked red and it's impossible to recover to it. I can't recover by partition, because it says that "There is insufficient space in the recovery destination." It says that on freshly initialized disk. And I tried few out-of-the-box disks. If I try disk mode, it says that "cannot recover to this drive". all the time "Recover now" is disabled. actually not always - at any time I can start recovery to my primary boot partition. that's allowed. naturally destroying my PC. but obviously it's not a problem for ATIH2012.
I tried all my backups made with 2012. I tried 2013 trial. Same situation with everything. What's wrong with this software?
If anyone had this problem and solved it - please help.

Vojtek

The way I expected disk imaging software to work is quite simple. I have few PCs in Central Apparatus Room and I needed to make backup copies. I take each system drive, connect to my personal computer via USB and do a ghost copy. In case of failure, I expect to take new disk, connect to my PC via USB, restore the image, put it back in CAR. First part worked. I made backups. Restoring - no way.
I can't use Recovery CD, because that would require standing in CAR for long time. It's cold and noisy. Can't blame me for trying to avoid that. Is it really too much to expect that backup CAN be restored to USB connected disk? Is that the reason why ATIH won't do that?
Attached is Disk Managmenet window. I put some extra information on it. I didn't attach the ATIH output when I try to restore using "disk mode" because it just shows this annoying yellow bar saying "Cannot recover to this drive". I tried cleaned drive (total clean from diskpart) and I tried when it's initialized. I tried when it's partitioned. And I tried Seagate disks, Hitachi disks and one WD disk. In the end, I connected disk using e-SATA interface. No difference. It's always no good for ATIH.
Today I even tried it all on a completely different PC (a very old laptop of mine, still running XP). Because I thought that problem for ATIH might be the fact that my OS is on RAID0. So I took a different PC - with old HDD. No difference. Same stupid and untrue information from ATIH about "Not enough space to recover". I saw that people had same problems in the past. And I saw changelogs for new ATIH versions - both 2012 and 2013 that from time to time they are fixing "some situations" when ATIH is "not estimating disk space" right way. I guess it's still a bug and big problem for this software to work properly.
BTW: Every time I try to recover, I do Validate. All TIB files always check out.

I too have the problem that Recover doesn't work, it says that there is insufficient space on the destination disk. I have used Acronis for years, but it's a long while since I had to restore a partition. I recently needed to do just that, but have now lost many weeks work. When that failed I tried to recover using Explore, but even that threw up a lot of problems with permissions etc. I certainly don't intend to invest more money in a later version until there is some evidence of the company correcting errors such as this. Meanwhile I suppose I have to start looking for another program which can do partition images.

I have recently had this problem too. Just when I needed to recover a drive - it doesn't recover.
I see that in the Release Notes for ATI2013 Update 1 (build 6514 which I'm using) that the list of "issues fixed" includes the following:
"Sometime recovery is impossible and results in the error "There is insufficient space in the recovery destination"
I wonder what this actually means? What did they fix?
If this software cannot even restore it's own backup then that makes it kind of "useless".

Stan & Max,
Boot from the TI Reccvery CD and do the restore from the CD.
The restore is much more straight forward. Depending upon what you want to recover, look at signaure link#3 below and check out items 2 if recovering the disk or item 3 if recovering only 1 partition.
