Cannot select folders to backup in My Documents

Thread needs solution

When I try to select sub-folders in the My Documents tree, nothing happens. The checkbox never gets checked.

Also, the My Documents folder is on drive Y. If I go to drive Y, then the My Documents folder does not show up in the list. All other folders do show up.

Basically, I cannot do a backup of the most important data. It also does not work for the Online Backup.

This may help.
If you go to Control panel/Folder options/view
Recheck your settings so to show all filed including system and hidden, etc. Maybe something is there.

Hi GroverH

I tried what you suggested and can now select the files for backup to a local drive, but the folder still does not show up for the Online Backup options. In this case, the My Documents folder at the top level shows all the sub-folders, but I cannot put a checkmark in the box to select the folders.

I even deleted by old backup (done prior to my previous version's expiration) and now I don't have anything. I just upgraded to TI 2011 and renewed my $49.95/year subscription and now now have no working backup.

Should you need to restore your disk due to a virus or mechanical issue, the type of backup that will enable you to recover to a old disk or new larger disk is a "disk" option backup. This is a backup where everything is included which iincludes all partitons--both hidden, diagnostic or recovery. You simply want everything on the disk to be included. A files only backup does not help you to recover from a virus or any mechaincal issue with your drive but a backup of your entire disk gives you the protection you need.

You can create a backup from inside Windows or when booted from the TI Rescue CD. This will give you a working backup and will include your documents if they are stored on the main system disk.

I would suggest that you open a support ticket with technical support. There is a link in upper right corner of this web page.

Hi GroverH:

That is not what I'm trying to do. I have several backups going. One for my system disk (which has the OS and applications) and one for my data (My Documents on another physical disk). Both of these are backed up unto separate external USB drives.

Then I used to have an additional backup to the Acronis Online Backup server for just the data in My Documents. This is the backup that I can no longer do. The other two backups I got to work again after the upgrade.

There is no point in me paying for Acronis Online Backup if I can't actually backup what I want to backup. Luckily, I also have Carbonite doing online backup of my data, and I think I'm going to stick to that instead if I can't get the Acronis Online Backup service figured out.
