Can't Activate Start-up Recovery Manager in True image home 9

Thread needs solution

I am trying to backup my hdd to a second internal drive (Disk 2) which has enough space to take the data. I have managed to create System Volume Backup and Acronis Bootable Media. Acronis tells me that the system is only partially protected and provides a link to activate Startup Recovery Manager.
I have followed the link and selected Disk 2 ( which I want to use for the Startup Recovery Manager), setup set up 20GB for the Secure Zone. The next window in the process shows that disk 2 will have a size of 94GB nfts with a Security Zone of 20 GB FAT 32.
When I click to activate the disk I end up with an error message "The Operation Failed".
What have I done wrong?

Hello,

Thank you for posting your question, I will be happy to help.
To resolve the issue you have experienced could you please do the following?
1) Please check the second disk for errors:
- Go to the Command Prompt (Start -> Run -> cmd);
- Enter the command: "chkdsk DISK: /r"
where DISK is the partition letter you need to check. Please note, that
checking the C: drive may require you to reboot the machine.
2) Temporarily detach any USB storage device that is plugged in. Let Acronis True Image perform the operation with the USB storage device detached.

If you have an inbuilt card reader, then disable it through Windows Device Manager:

- Hit Win-R to get to the command prompt;

- Type in devmgmt.msc and hit Enter;

- In the Device Manager window locate your card reader (it probably starts with letters SD, MMC etc);

- Right-click on the card reader and select Disable.

Try to create Acronis Secure Zone and see if the issue remains.

3) Also, as a workaround,  create Acronis Secure Zone from Acronis Bootable Media.
The issue should be resolved.
Otherwise,  download Acronis Report utility available here and run it, create a report and attach the file to your next post. Please compress the Acronis Report output file into an archive (e.g. with WinZip) and attach to your message by browsing for the archive.
This would provide us with detailed information on the hard disk partition structure.

Please let us know the results, we should be sure that the program runs flawlessly. If the provided information is not clear or if you have any other questions do not hesitate to post them and we will be glad to answer.
Thank you.

Please note that my primary master HDD is H:/. My secondary slave is designated c:/

I have tried all the fixes you suggested. The disk C;/ where I am creating the backup and Startup Recovery Manager is in good condition according to chkdsk. I have removed any USB storage and I have tried to create Acronis Secure Zone using Acronis Bootable Media. Nothing works. So I have created a Report which is attached.

 Hello,

Thank you for your response.

Please boot the system from Acronis Bootable Media, reproduce the issue, save the log file of the failed operation and attach the file to your next post. This information will help me to investigate the issue thoroughly and provide you with a possible solution.

By the way, your system partition contains file system errors.

Thank you for informing me about the file system errors. If you can provide any more info or advise me how to correct this I will be grateful.

Hello Ed,

Thank you for the provided information.

Unfortunately, the exact reason of the malfunction still can't be identified. Let's apply the following workaround:

I am providing you with an ISO file to create Acronis Disk Director 10.0 Bootable Media for the current purposes. I am sending the file  via Private Messages.
- Create Acronis Disk Director Rescue Media;
- Insert the disk, reboot the computer.
- Select Acronis Disk Director Suite 10.0;
- Select the partition/disk where you want to create Acronis Secure Zone;
- Create a partition with the size equal to the size of the future Acronis Secure Zone;
- Format the created partition (there will be unallocated space of the required size);
- Extract the CD and insert Acronis True Image Rescue Media.
- Reboot the computer;
- Select Acronis True Image Home 2009;
- Choose Acronis Secure Zone Wizard and create Acronis Secure Zone using the unallocated space that is present at your system.
The issue should be resolved.
Please let us know the results, we should be sure that the program runs flawlessly. If the provided information is not clear or if you have any other questions do not hesitate to post them and we will be glad to answer.

Thank you.
