Can't get Acronis True Home 2011 Build 5519 to backup Outlook 2007 x64...

Thread needs solution

I was able to get the full backup after like 10-15 attempts but the incrementals fail everynight. I purposely reboot to ensure that no files are locked.

I have gotten weird results: 12K files when the PST file is 5XXMB, opening up the application and manually backing up the email and no backup starting to the following errors:

PHARCYDE-SRVR-1-EMAIL Task is waiting for user interaction.

Hello Shawn,

Welcome to the forum and thank you for your post. I will do my best to assist you.

There is a known issue in our software with scheduled outlook backup tasks, please accept my apologies for the inconvenience. As a workaround, please try closing outlook and create a manual backup. Our  Development team is working on the problem and as soon as there is a fix, we will share this information with our forum community.

If you need additional assistance, please let me know.

Thank you.

KB15189 says: "This has been fixed".
I installed the newest build of ATIH2011 (6574) and i got the same error!
Fixed? In your dreams!
When will it be REALLY fixed? At least, scheduled backup is an important feature!

Hello André Fakler,

Thank you for posting and welcome to the forum. I will definitely help you with this issue.

To eliminate the possibility of the program components not updating properly, I would really appreciate if you can perform the following steps as a workaround and get back to me in case you have additional questions:

1. Please make sure you have a valid backup of your system.

2. Run this clean up utility and reboot your PC afterwards.

3. Re-install the latest build and re-create the backup task.

Please let me know if you have additional questions.

Thank you.

I did what you suggested but it still doesn't work. See the attached File for a PrintScreen.
Any other things i can do?

Hello André Fakler,

Thank you for the follow-up.

I would like to apologize for this mixup. The KB article about this issue was improperly updated. We are now working to modify the article.

The fix for this problem will be available in Update 2, I am terribly sorry for the inconvenience.

As a workaround, please try closing outlook and create a manual backup.

Let me know if you have additional questions please.

Thank you.

That is more or less the same error message I get but with Outlook 2010 installed. Backup of the Outlook data doesn't work at all if Outlook is running. To close Outlook for that operation is no option.

@Michael G:

Just for clarification: I'm also using Outlook 2010 on a Windows 7 Home Premium x64 System. The Mailbackup works properly, even if Outlook is open. I simply created a backup task in TIH and let it put a shortcut on the desktop, so the backup is just a doubleclick away.
The only problem is, you have to think of it and therefore the scheduled backup is indispensable.
I really hope, that Acronis will release the mentioned update 2 asap.

Thanks for your note. But I stopped hopping und returned the copy due to the huge number of problems (e.g. I am a victim of the Wacom problem). I reinstalled ATIH 2010. The system was up and running within a few minutes.

Hello
I thought I would post a resolution that has worked for me regarding this issue. It is a work around but it seems to work fine. I have Outlook 2007 and True Image Home 2011. My operating system is W7 64x
1. Create the email backup within Acronis but do not schedule backups.
2. Right click on the backup go to more and create a shortcut. The backup should be placed on the desktop.
3. Click start and type task scheduler. Select the schedule task link at the top.
4. http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/25046/schedule-synctoy-to-run-automatica… (This is a link that explains how to auto start a program.)
5. The link shows how to start synctoy. The synctoy references will have to be replace with the info contained in the shortcut you created on the desktop earlier. You can name the scheduled task anything you want.
6. THIS IS IMPORTANT. When creating the new action under the actions tab it is critical to cut and paste the path everything (including "" marks) but do not cut and paste anyting after the last " mark. This path is obtained by right clicking on he shortcut - click properties - under the shortcut tab see target.
7. Cut and paste everything after the last " mark in the add arguments section just under the path section. This will allow the backup to run and not just open the program.
8. On the general tab of the scheduler you will need to click (Run only when user is logged on) and run with highest privileges. NOTE: If run with highest privileges is not checked the backup may not automatically because the program may ask for permission to open.
9. Finally schedule the trigger to run how often you like. I had mine on every five minutes for a while just to insure that it was working.

Notes: I know that the directions are terrible but if you google a little while you can find enough information in a good format to do what I am talking about. This basically tricks True Image into thinking it was a manual command that requested the backup. True Image 2011 seems to work fine with Outlook open if it thinks there was a manual command that initiated the backup. I have no idea why?
I hope this is a help to others. I googled for a long time and mixed in a little trial and error before I figured out a solution that worked for me.

Sorry for the double post. I accidentally posted the first while trying to make some corrections. This one should read a little better.

Hi Brian
To use the Windows taskplanner instead of the Acronis scheduler is a really excellent idea. Many thanks for that. I created a task as you described it and it works!
Therefore i can now patiently wait until Acronis succeed to correct the error in their scheduler and i recommend your solution to all users with the same or similar problem.

I am glad it worked for you. I am waiting on Acronis as well. I like True Image 11 overall but there are a few glitches that are aggravating.
