Clone a Partition

Thread needs solution

Alright heres my problem i am currently running vista ultimate on the C: with windows xp D: partitioned on the same drive. I never use xp but i have recently got a larger hard drive that i want to clone vista onto. When using acronis true image home 2010 and i cant seem to figure out what to do to just get the vista on the new hard drive and not clone the xp partition. Thanks for any help with this problem.

First create the bootable Rescue CD and use the Backup feature, not Clone, to make a backup of the Vista part. Then again with the Rescue CD use the Recovery feature to restore to the new drive.

Hello Kory and DwnNDrty,

I understand your concern and will do my best to help you.

The thing is that Clone Tool allows you to copy/move the contents of the entire hard drive, not a single partition. In your case I recommend you to follow DwnNDrty's suggestion and create a backup of your Vista partition and then restore it to a new hard drive. Full description of the backing up process is available at Chapter 6.3.1 of the User's Guide.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions.

Thank you.
