Clone XP IDE drive to XP SATA drive with no floppy?

Thread needs solution

Can I use Acronis True Image 2010 to "clone" the contents of an XP computer's IDE drive (3 partitions) to another computer that has a SATA drive but no floppy drive? The second computer is currently running Vista but I want to "downgrade" it to XP.

I've tried:
• an Acronis 2010 bootable rescue disk, which does allow me to transfer the entrire drive's contents (via an external 1TB USB drive) to the SATA disk, but offers no way of installing SATA drivers;
• an nLite CD (with SATA drivers), which installs XP and SATA drivers . . . only to be overwritten by the Acronis restore;
• a BartPE CD, which only gets me to the "F6 floppy" stumbling block.

Am I trying the impossible: recovering the Acronis backup onto the SATA drive of an XP computer and getting SATA drivers installed there also?

Hello Mark,

Please accept our apologies for the delay with the response.

No worries, I will help you to resolve this situation.

Actually, current version of the product does not allow you to add SATA drivers to the cloned\restored image. But it's not necessary, since our product can handle interface difference without additional drivers. You can use Clone option and Recovery method as usual to transfer your system.

We have a special article for this situation, it describes how to transfer your system from IDE to SATA drive, please check it for the details.

I'd like to make sure all your queries regarding Acronis products are resolved.
Additionally to this, you are welcome to ask me any other questions concerning Acronis, and I will assist you further.

Thank you.
