cloned drive boots into a blue screen

Thread needs solution

i used migrate easy to clone a drive on an old dell poweredge 1300 onto a sata drive that runs on a new dell T100. clone was successfull. however, when i hook up the cloned copy (sata drive) in the new dell machine, it boots into a blue screen. am i not able to migrate to a new machine using a cloning software like acronis migrate easy? is it a controller issue? something else? any ideas? solutions? thanks Mike

Hello Sara,

I understand the issue and will do everything possible to solve it.

The source of the issue is different hardware on the destination machine (motherboard, controllers, video card, etc.). Even though the clone procedure went flawlessly you are unable to boot in such cases.

I may recommend you upgrade Acronis Migrate easy 7.0 to Acronis True Image Home 2010 and purchase an add-on Plus Pack using our online store. Using Acronis True Image Home 2010 with Plus Pack installed will allow you to transfer your system to a different hardware.

Check the following KB article “Acronis True Image Home 2010 Plus Pack: Using Acronis Universal Restore” for step-by-step instructions of transferring the system to dissimilar hardware.

Let me know if you need further assistance or have just a question and I will be glad to assist you.

Thank you.

In the old days of XP you just ran windows Sysprep before doing your backup and then installed the proper drivers on the "new" machine. ;)
