Cloning 3TB Drive via USB 3.0 Dock Fails

Thread needs solution

If anyone has any input, it would be appreciated. I have a Syba CL-ENC50038 HDD USB 3.0 Dock. ( http://www.sybausa.com/productInfo.php?iid=1108 ) I am trying to clone my 3TB (non OS) drive directly to an identical drive in the dock. The process begins but fails after about 20 minutes with no explanation. If the backup/destination drive is connected to the MOBO via SATA, I can boot to Acronis and clone perfectly. However, I do not want this drive permanently in my PC. The dock supports GPT and Windows 7 recognizes the drive at full capacity when docked. I have tried other USB enclosures with this drive and have the same problem.

I want to utilize the dock because in Acronis it recognizes it as a USB connection making it easier to identify the source from the destination drive as they are both the same model and have nearly the same amount of info on them.

Kell,

I assume you are using USB 3.0 ports to connect the dock to, is this correct?

Have you checked to see if there are any updated drivers for the USB ports in your system? (from the system manufacturer or chipset manufacturer)

If you have any USB 2.0 ports, have you tried to clone with the dock connected to one of them? (I know this is not ideal, just for troubleshooting.)

Are you using True Image in Windows or from the bootable Rescue Media? Have you tried both?

Thanks for the reply. I have not checked for USB 3.0 Drivers but it functions fine when transferring files and acting as a removable device. I plugged into multiple USB 3.0 ports and tried USB 2.0 with the same results. I am using the bootable rescue media. If I try it in Windows it fails every time even when connected via sata port on the MOBO. Acronis told me the GPT large capacity disks have to be cloned via rescue media.
