Cloning disks

Thread needs solution

I am running TI Home 2010 build 6.029 on a Win 7 Pro 64-bit system.

I have reason to believe that my C:\ drive is starting to fail.

Will I be able to do a complete restore to a new hard drive using a complete back-up? Or do I need to do something else to clone the disks? Do I need the Plus pack to do this?

I'm concerned about the reliability of TI 2010 seeing as how many people here complained of failed recoveries.

Any comments or suggestions greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

No plus pack needed. But you do need to make the bootable Rescue cd which you need to effect a restore of the Backup Image you made.

Thanks, DnD. I've made the CD and booted with it and could see all my drives. Even tried restoring a file from the backup and was successful.

Any thing else I should check before I pull the plug on the old drive?

You could run the Validate on the Image backup, again using the boot CD. But since you're going to change the drive anyway, you might as well disconnect the drive, put it away safely, connect the new drive and restore the Image.
