Cloning to a new larger hard drive but primary C partitian won't expand to fill new volume
I'm trying to clone from a 250GB hard drive to a 500GB drive. The automatic or manual mode won't let me change the size of the main C: partition. I'm it wants to fill the larger drive with an greatly expanded Recovery partitian and keep C: partitian exactly the same. The whole object was to get more HD space. Not sure why it won't let me change it. (one observation is there is a small red C in the corner of the C: partition space in the layout diagram) Any clues?

Yep, the chkdsk route seemed to clear the errors or corruption in the partition and the drive looked like it would map properly during cloning. The operation indicated it was successful, however the new drive won't boot. arrr..gh!

What version of Windows is it?
What boot error are you getting?
What type of system is it (laptop, desktop, etc.)?
How was each drive connected during the cloning? For example, the source drive was internal and the destination was connected via USB.
If non-standard drive drive geometry is being used by the computer, the destination drive (the new drive) should be installed internally when clonning is performed.
