Computer Hangs after reboot when trying to Clone original hard drive
I am running WIN 7 SP 1 64 bit. My main main HD is a Seagate SATA 2TB which is in an HP 8-1380T machine. I installed the Acronis True Image Home 2012 edition. The software checked online and found a more recent version so I downloaded and installed the updated version of the Acronis software. I purchased a duplicate hard drive so I can do a clone of the original hard drive. After installing the new hard drive I ran the clone tool from Acronis. It told me I had to do a reboot and I answered yes to the reboot. The machine comes up with the message "Starting Acronis UEFI Loader...." then I wait and wait and wait. Nothing happens each time I try doing a clone. I really am looking for some help in troubleshooting what is wrong with this operation ? Any suggestions will greatly help with my frustration level. All I wanted to do was make a clone drive of my original hard drive as a backup bootable hard drive in case something goes wrong.

Is the recovery CD something that windows has to create or do I have to make a recovery CD from the Acronis software ?

You can create the Acronis Rescue Media (CD/DVD/USB Flash drive) from within the Acronis program, or download the Rescue Media ISO (used to burn a recovery CD/DVD) from your online Acronis account if you registered your serial number online. They are the same. It is possible that you may run into the same issue when booting to the rescue media since you have a system with UEFI firmware. On some systems, you can go into the BIOS (UEFI in your case) and temporarily change the firmware type the system uses to legacy BIOS instead of UEFI. This sometimes can help with bootablility issues with the Acronis Media. Just be sure to change it back from BIOS mode to UEFI mode when finished with the bootble media.
You may also want to use the downloaded ISO with a program called YUMI, to create a bootable USB flash drive. Sometimes this approach can work around UEFI firware compatability issues.
