Computer will not reboot during the rcovery process
New HP Envy 810-135qe running Win 7 Pro. No other software except the bloat ware from HP. Acronis TI 2014 installed and backup performed. When I try to recover, all goes normal to the point where it says "you must restart, etc. etc." When I do, it shuts down, then a small print Acronis (not the large color one) and a few lines in the upper left of the screen, then all goes dark. If I turn it off and attempt a restart, I get a black screen with Intel info, patent numbers, and Client MAC address. To get it back up requires a factory reinstall, or a Acronis Recovery media disk. I have tried many things, like a clean install of the software, no updates, different recovery media, checked the BIOS for Legacy support Enable, Secure Boot Disable, Boot sequence, etc. Something seems to be interrupting the ability of Acronis to load for the recovery. Acronis support is of ZERO help here. I'd appreciate your inputs. Thanks

Sorry GroverH, but that's not how the product is marketed. The whole idea is the simplicity of performing the restore from windows, not constructing some workaround because the design is flawed. My ATI 2012 works flawlessly on my Win XP machine. The ATI 2014 crashes my brand new and unadulterated Win 7 machine on restore. Crashes as in the machine will not boot AT ALL. Soft pedalling that with a workaround is an admission of failure. Further, nowhere does it state that the "preferred" method is to boot from the CD. That is an emergency procedure. This product is getting returned unless Acronis comes up with a solution.

Sir, under your circumstances Grover is correct in what he has posted. See following links:

These steps are what is recommended if your machine crashes and recovery cannot complete. You need to determine why the machine is crashing if possible. It may be something that needs repair or fixing prior to recovery. I understand that you have a NEW machine here but not everything NEW is in proper condition. It is best to investigate and follow recommended procedures to restore your machine.

Lets be clear. Acronis crashes the machine. Every time. This is not just a "Hey, my machine crashed and won't boot. How do I restore it?" If Acronis crashed your machine every time you used it, would you use it as your software of choice for backups?

Dude, we MVPs (and I include Grover) don't work for Acronis. We are aware of what is marketed, but are advising you of the safest, most reliable restore method. There's no point arguing with us. You can follow our advice or ignore it, but we're not going to change it just because you want us to agree with some marketing materials.

I appreciate the input and your volunteerism. Thank you for the expertise. I am researching this in a different direction. I believe there is a UEFI boot issue that Acronis has not fully considered. Could be HP's issue too, but I would find it difficult to believe that I am the first guy to have the problem. Particularly so since it's new hardware and uncorrupted software right out of the box. If I resolve it I will let you know.
