Consolidated fails 100% of the time on all backups
Running TI Home 2011 with Plus pack build 6597 on Windows 7 Pro 64.
I have 2 backups that run every night that are set to consolidate after 14 backups are created. Each backup backs up a different drive and backups TO a different destination drive. For BOTH backups, when they reach 14 .tib files, the consolidation step fails with "The specified file does not exist.". I have recreated both backup jobs from scratch, but the result is the same. After 14 successful backups, both backups fail with this error. On the day of failure it does the normal backup and then makes a copy of each of the original files using a very long file name. As soon as it completes the copy of the final file it fails. It will then prompt me with "Specify location of the volume" but no volume is actually listed. Instead it just places what appears to be a pipe symbol at the end of the prompt. "Specify location of the volume |." Since I have no idea what it's looking for I can't progress beyond this point, and in fact have to kill the task to exit the backup process. This also "orphans" all the existing .tib files. They still exist in the destination folder, but the job will show that it has never been run and running it will start an entirely new set of files.
NOTE: Not a space issue. On the one that failed this AM, the combined total of all the existing .tib files was less than 30 GB and the drive has 122 GB free.

Thanks for the response. I'll give these steps a shot.

Perhaps consider changing the consolidation method. Choose either differential or incremental from the custom scheme. Note the suggested method of saving your changes.
Change the 6 to 13 (1 full plus 13 inc or diff).
Change the 4 to whatever number of chains (backup sets of 14 files) you wish to keep.
Check or uncheck to retain the original set.

I have seen this behavior as well. It happens in particular if you have made changes to a tasks several tims, and/or deleted manually some .tib files. I remember I saw the "specify location of the weird volume" message.
I fixed it by cleaning up my backups:
- make a fresh full backup to another destination, and copy all other backup files you want to keep to another directory using windows explorer,
- clear all your scheduled tasks using the Acronis schedule manager (task zap),
- delete (not remove) from within ATI all your backups (this will delete all original backup files, but you have copied them before)
- delete manually all the scripts in the c:\programdata\Acronis\Trueimaghome\Scripts directory (you mind find some leftovers there if you have removed some backups without deleting them).
- create one test task with backup every hour or so to verify consolidation works. If it works, verify the consolidated backup can be validated. If it can, delete the test backup (not remove, delete). You don't have a consolidation issue any longer.
- do not reimport your backup copies into ATI. Leave them there in case you need them in the future.
- recreate your backup task(s) and try to minimize the editing of it/them.
Thanks Pat. That appears to have done the trick. When I recreated those 2 jobs last week I set them to consolidate at 7 days. Last night it correctly consolidated both backups.
