Consolidation failure, backup date cannot be found, Windows Vista

Thread needs solution

I tried to consolidate my disk backups on my machine running Windows Vista, which fails. The knowledge base has no information on what to do now. I have attached screen shots of the steps I used.

Make sure you have plenty (enough for a full backup at least) of space on the disk where the consolidation happens.
Try to consolidate progressively, to see whether the problem is with a particular incremental. Check all the backups except the first 2 ones (I think this is what you need to do to consolidate only the first incremental in to the full). If this works, make your way through.

I stay away from consolidation. The process is lenghty and doesn't save you much time compared with doing a new full after x incrementals.

Thanks for the feedback. I'll agree the consolidation process is lengthy, and in the future I'll probably do as you suggest.

I noticed that Windows updates were waiting to be installed, so I went ahead and installed them, and then did the required reboot to finish the update. I started the consolidation again, and it is now running the (lengthy) consolidation process. I expect that it will successfully complete, and will confirm whether it does or not in an update to this post.

Once again. thanks for you help!

The consolidation completed and validated without errors. I forgot that in my post #37107 that the progress window appears to have a bug that causes the estimated time increases to a high value and stops updating. The consolidation probably took under 1 hour for the 7 incremental backups. I noticed the incremental backups were gone from the file listing and the consolidated backup time hadn't changed for 30 minutes. I cancelled the operation and then validated it to be sure consolidation had actually completed.

I hope Acronis is keeping track of these bugs.

Does anyone know if there's a place where we can find known issues and bugs, which OS's and TIH versions affected, etc., summarized in one place? It would sure help out a lot. It gets a bit annoying to keep running into the same problems and not knowing if they're being tracked and fixed!

I am not aware of a bug/fixes/issues public tracking aside from the published release notes.

Thanks Pat. I don't recall ever seeing release notes, beyond the "New in True Image 2012 by Acronis" section of the User's Guide. I've looked around the Acronis documentation page, but don't see any release notes. Has Acronis made these available to its customers?

Oops - never mind. I found them here:

I noticed that in the list of NSB changes in the link I referenced in my last post the following:

"Please remove Nonstop Backup icon from tray after stopping it"

I hope what was actually implemented was an icon showing that NSB is stopped, but I don't believe that is the case.
