Create image after truecrypt installation(whole disk) with acronis

Thread needs solution

Hi everyone. I have recently installed windows 7 64bit and installed after that true crypt 6.3a on the whole disk.

And I wondering will it function if i do a image with acronis on my harddrive and after that restore the disc on a harddrive. Will that keep the true crypt boot password prompt or not?

Hello bigvanilla and rei!

Thank you for finding time to open the thread and many thanks to rei for his valuable comment and link provided, looks like it helped to resolve the question!

I just would like to confirm that should your drive be encrypted you will have to create the backup in sector-by-sector mode. It images the entire drive (not the space used), so be prepared that your archive will be rather large.

Also please keep in mind that our software may conflict with software that encrypts files or partitions. Please kindly check this article for more details.

We entirely understand how inconvenient it may be, but unfortunately there is not workaround or solution: encryption ciphers the drive in such a way that our product cannot access the file system directly.

I would appreciate if you could kindly share your concerns, suggestions or questions with us - we will be glad to provide you with any needed assistance!

Thank you!

It worked with old version of Acronis! I have some TB of truecrypt paritions and some partitions are almost empty so I definitely do not want sector by sector backup.
After upgrading Acronis all my partitions gone and I have to downgrade now to access my backup-archives that are also on (external) encrypted partitions.
I want the file-mode back! There are lot of other backup-solutions that are of no use to us! Acronis was the only that worked cool with our encrypted file containers.
Due to really strange politics in the EU, data-encryptions will become more and more important. So pleeeeeeeeeease give us back the access to virtual drives.

My laptop has 500gb hard disk, 60gb is for system partition and the rest is for data. I'm using ATIH 2010 to backup my sys partition and save in my data partition. According to previous posts, if I want to encrypt sys_part with truecrypt (7.0a) I'll have to do sector-by-sector method which will use up 60gb in my data partition. Is that right? Do I always need to boot from ABRM (Acronis Bootable Rescue Media) to create backup? Currently my backup is running daily and create a new set after 7 days. The first backup is copied over to a NAS.
