Create Version Chain backup method for less than six months?

Thread needs solution

I am currently using the "Version Chain" backup method which alternately creates full and incremental backups and deleting backups older than six months. But six months worth of backups take up too much space on my 500 G disk and I have to manually delete backups to make room for new ones. Is it possible to create a "Version Chain" backup where backups older than TWO months are deleted instead of the default six months?

Ken,

Create a custom backup scheme.
It is better to create a new task for this.

- Create a new task by selecting Disk and Partition backup.
- In the upper right corner of the window that pops up, click on the blue link that says "switch to disk mode"
- Check the disk where you system is.
- Verify that the destination of your backup is OK.
- Click on the blue backup scheme "version chain" link. A new window will appear.
- Click on the version chain button, select custom scheme
- In the new "full" button that appears, select incremental (if you are worried about space).
- Click on the radio button that says "create a new full version after every" 3 "incremental versions". This way ATI will do a new full backup every four weeks (for a weekly schedule)
- Click on the autocleaning blue link
- Select "store no more than" 2 "revent version chains". This ways ATI will create 1 full, then 3 incrementals, then 1 full, then 3 incrementals, then 1 full and will delete the first 1+3 backups to keep going. You will therefore have about 2 months of back. You need enough space for 3-5 full backups at least on your USB disk (strictly speaking 3 full and 6 incrementals, the size of which will vary depending on your changes).
- In the same window, in the "advanced tab", unfold the validation option. Click on the blue link.
- Choose the day and time for a weekly validation.
- Unfold the advanced settings options.
- Untick all options there
- Click OK to close the validation schedule
- Go back to the backup scheme tab.
- Click on OK to close the backup options window. If you are not on the right tab, your autocleaning options will not stick.
You are now back to main backup configuration window.
- Click on the blue link for the schedule.
- Choose a the day and time for a weekly backup.
- Unfold the advanced settings options.
- Untick all options there.
- Click on OK to close the schedule window.
- Click on Backup now or backup later to close the backup configuration window
