Is it possible to create a bootable "hard disk" recue media?
The idea is to have the entire backup of my hd on a 2nd hd on the same computer, and be able to boot from the 2nd whenever necessary to restore from it.

It certainly is possible. I have my computer setup that way using Grub4DOS. I just use the BIOS boot menu to select when I need to boot the other drive. You can find more information on this here. Booting from an internal drive is also super fast compared to a CD or flashdrive.
