Creating Bootable USB Media (Recovery Media)
I have created a USB flash drive bootable media. Acronis TI says it was created successfully.
However, it fails to load when trying to boot.
The splash screen for choosing ATI comes up when attempting to boot but when ATI is chosen
I get a message "Unable to execute program"
This happens on multiple computers. Therefore the USB Boot drive is unusable -- This also happens if I create a bootable CD from the software on my computer.
When I had this problem for a bootable CD, the solution was to download the bootable media from the website. That image worked to create a bootable CD. Now I need a bootable USB drive.
How can I create a bootable USB flash drive that will work since using the software on my computer does not work?
Is there a download for the USB drive instead of just an image for a CD?
Can the ISO image from the website somehow be used to create a Bootable USB drive?
Thank you

The computer booting is not a problem. It automatically boots from the flash drive.
Grub4DOS did the trick.
The software installed on the computer seems incapable of creating a bootable media, but using Grub4DOS circumvents this and you can either use the image or one created by the utility after installing it.
Thanks

I'm glad it worked for you. I find it to be a very useful tool.

YUMI also works. http://www.pendrivelinux.com/yumi-multiboot-usb-creator/

Looks like an extremely useful program.
Thanks for the tip.

Another handy one to accomplish the same goal is Xboot. Essentially has Grub4Dos as its core, but I found it simpler than Grub4Dos.

In my case Grub4dos worked fine to boot the recovery iso and would allow a restore but could not write to my usb hard drive. It always failed due to the drive being write protected??? YUMI as posted by James above worked perfectly for all functions. The only thing I can see that could be the difference is the fact YUMI uses syslinux to boot the usb pendrive and the rest falls into place. Could be wrong but YUMI worked for me where grub4dos did not.

In what sense was the drive write protected? Was this a password-protected USB hard drive?

The drive is not write protected at all. All other applications except acronis recovery can write to it. Only the acronis recovery media on a usb flash drive reports it as write protected. If I boot from the cd recovery disk there is no problem. Also no problem if I build the recovery usb flash with YUMI. Just if I use Grub4dos to build the usb flash recovery does the problem occur.

Sorry, you've confused me. You're the one who raised the issue of your drive being write protected as possibly being the reason why Grub4dos didn't work for you.
I haven't used Grub4dos directly, but I use Xboot whiich is based on Grub4dos. I've had no problem doing backups and full recoveries to and from .tib images on my external HDs using Acronis True Image Recovery Media from Xboot USB flash drive.

Sorry; I should have said due to the drive being REPORTED as write protected by acronis

I will try xboot and see how it works on my system Thanks for the info
