Custom Backup scheme

Thread needs solution

I have Acronis True Image 2011 I am using a custom Backup Scheme. One full backup every month with daily incremental backups. I am backing up to an external drive. Normally it is a shared network drive but I can connect it locally.

When network attached it takes three to four days to do a full backup and an hour to do the incremental backups. When attached locally it takes about an hour to do the full backup. When attached locally the drive is mounted as drive E: when network attached it is mounted as drive E:. What I would like to do is to attach the drive locally on the days a full backup is scheduled and network attach it the rest of the time.
However, if I do the full backup locally and try to do incremental backups with the drive network attached I get a dialog asking me to find the destination TIB. I browse to it and it asks: Do you want to use the backup file as a destination? then complains that there is a mismatch.

How am I supposed to make this work?

The type of backup media used is embedded in the task script. The only way I can think of around your problem is to make a task that makes the full, and have this pointed to the drive when locally attached, and have the increments as another task ponting to the network.

I doubt that your imaging should take 3 - 4 days, something isn't quite right here.

What size drive are you imaging?

How are you accessing the network?
