Date Stamp & Time Stamp

Thread needs solution

I remember adding @date@ and @time@ to the backup file name to append the date and time stamp of each backup. After creating a new backup sequence using the CUSTOM selection, I do not seem to get the desired information in the file name. Namely the date and time stamp. What am I doing incorrect? Thanks for the help.

If you are using 2011, make sure that everytime to click on destination and open that destination selection window, you verify that your task name is as you desire.

I recommend you do not use the stamps. In my testing, there are situations where ATI will lose track of these stamps. In some case, they will freeze and ATI will revert back to adding suffixes to the subsequent backups (after some regular file operations like moving the backup). Sometimes they will be ignored (when you use the ASZ for example) somehow freeze them.

If you are in a phase where you tweaking your backup strategy, I also recommend you let the backup TIB file names match the task name. If you edit the task name after having typed in the TIB file name or vice versa, you will have to be careful to verify your TIB file names scheme is preserved whenever you make some changes to your backup.

Using the time stamps is OK if you set up a regular incremental, differential, full backup task and never edit it.
