Disabling the Synchronization feature

Thread needs solution

I have no need for this feature, but the product logs me on each time I start TI, with delays of up to two minutes. How do I disable it?

Acronis Sync Agent Service in Windows Services

and if you do not use "Online Backup-Non-stop", you can disable that service also. I do not use Non-stop or sync and I have both disabled.

Edited for clarification.

And nonstop backup, yo can knock out that one too if you don't use it.

To get to windows services, right click on My Cmputer, select Manage, select Services and Applications, select Services, find the service in question onthe list.
When you find th service, right click it; first stop the service in question then right click to select properties and select disable.

I don't see the "Online Backup" service in 2012. Got the other two. What's the service name or is it intergrated in the "sync" service now?

yrag,

If you log out from your account from within ATI, does it solve your performance issue? At that point, the sync tab is replaced by a log in page in the product.

Pat,

Thanks for your response.

I don't have any issues however. I was referencing GroverH's post. I don't use Sync, non-stop backup or online backup, so I disable the services. Prior to 2012, there was an Online Backup start service (prior to Sync introduction). It's no longer there, so Im assuming that somehow it's integrated into the Sync services. If that's the case, then I'm done and will stop looking for "3rd" service (sync and non-stop are disabled now). If not, I can't find the online backup service and was asking if anyone knew the name of the service. Except for some GUI glitches, the app works flawlessly, so it's not a great concern to me since I'm the only one that uses the machine.

Thanks again for your time.

Yrag,

OLB is managed by the Sync service.

Thank you, Colin

Actually all you got to do is log off before closing Acronis2012. (click on the gear icon on top right to log off)

Disabling the services is better if you never plan to use this feature You can also set the service to Manual if you want to let the application initiate the service to start only when you login.

Thanks for the advice.

@6rtury "Thanks all. Have disabled both of those services."

What services did you disable and how is ATIH working for you now?

Thanks,

I first disabled both the Synch and the Non-stop backup services. That gave me two error messages at the bottom of the screen when I re-opened ATIH, although the program did open. I didn't test it, and instead went back and changed Synch Agent to Manual, but left Non-stop BU services disabled. That got rid of the messages and so far everything seems to be working OK. Of course, I don't use non-stop backup. After running a BU I went back to check and found that the Synch process was still set to Manual and had not started.

Ahh, ok. Thanks for the feedback.

Have you tried validating the backup? I could not validate my backup after disabling synch, even when it was set to manual. E-mails would not backup properly either. I have left synch on automatic, and in Acronis set it to "pause". When I hit the Acronis Online button nothing seems to have been sent to the on-line backup services, so let it be.

Ken -- don't know to whom your reply is directed, but I can respond to it.

Instead of disabling the 'Acronis Synch Agent Service', I set it to "Manual" (using Win7, and did it via Computer Management --> Services). Doing it this way creates no problems. It's available if wanted, but takes no resorces unless if invoked.

The one remaining problem with ATIH 2012 that I'm experiencing are error messages during backup that may or may not stop the program from running. Yesterday, I updated to the recent bugfix, Build 6131, but haven't had the chance to see if that problem remains.

One improvement I do notice with the bugfix is that the program loads much faster, a big relief. It's unsettling to call a program and stare at an empty screen for 45-60 seconds until it loads.

Why there is no option to disable the unwanted features in Acronis application itself?!? If I disable the services the app gives me errors when I start it up. I feel I wasted $30 again. With every version True Image gets more bloated. Why can't they understand that there may be customers who are only interested in basic backup and not having unwanted service running all the time?!?

OK, so to be clear - what you did was stopped the "Acronis Sync Agent Service" and then set it to Startup Type of "Manual" - and that caused no negative side-effects, right?
Can anything safely done as far as the other service: "Acronis Nonstop Backup Service"?

Thanks,
Eliezer

NSB can be set to manual, however scheduler2 must be left on automatic and running.

I too am looking to delete one sync from a collection of 4 syncs, in ATI 2014.  Having looked at the procedures posted by various posters, I am not impressed.  It looks as if ALL syncs will be stopped, which I so not want.  I cannot see a method to REMOVE one sync from the Synchronisation page.

Has this been fixed yet? in a new rekease ?????

Also it is annoying that the Acronis screens and taskbar are rarely in agreement about the progress of any task.  This to me indicates sloppy disorganised programming. (Sorry Guys, but testing should have found this simple problem)

Also I would like to see the filenames as they are Synchronised, but that is my personal preference.

I STILL would like to upgrade, but only when the programmers are making the product better rather than the marketing team adding extraneous features

RE progress, the issues are all Windows issues; the program makes the best estimate it can as the file system makes the data availalble.

Thank you for the very clear information on how to get to windows services and disable stuff.  So many people assume everyone knows, well I don't but reading what you wrote and trying it for myself is how I learn.  Thanks.
