Disc full and access failed

Thread needs solution

I am using True Image Home 2010. A couple of weeks ago the system stopped backing up with the following error message: Operation with partition '0-5' was terminated.
Details:
Disk is full. (0x70015)
Tag = 0xF6013C318C15A6D7
Disk is full. (0x40004)
Tag = 0xC4AB60A831327F4A

This seemed to indicate that the system was not deleting earlier back-ups to make room for the new one. I went to Acronis Support and eventually downloaded what was describedd as the latest version and I am now getting the following error message:

Failed to open Acronis Secure Zone for exclusive access.

I've scoured the foruims and knowledge base for help but I'm getting nowhere as it all seems to be written for computer boffins and not for idiots like me who don't understand all the technical terms. What can I do? Somebody please help

Are you actually using the Secure Zone for your images?

Are these disk/partition images or files and folders backup?

Is your latest build 7046 assuming you are using the English Language US build?

I backup to a 80gb internal second disc of which 69gb is reserved for an Acronis secure zone. It was set first to backup the entire system and then perform daily incremental backups.

I presume they are images rather than files and folders but I am not sure of the difference (sorry to be a bit thick!)

Certainly English but how do I find out what build I have? (sorry again!)

As you are using TI 2010, you can find the build number by clicking on the down arrow by the Help menu item on the right hand side, then the standard About box option will become available.

The difference between F&F and images is - images are either whole disks or partitions, whereas F&F you have chosen individual files.

Are you able to make a manual FULL image to the SZ?

What does Windows Disk Managment say about the SZ usage? You might ahve to temporarily assign a drive letter to the SZ to get this info.

Windows Disk Management - Right click on My Computer, select MANAGE, select Disk Management from the left hand option tree.

To assign a drive letter to the SZ, highlight it, right click and choose Assign a Drive Letter.

Before making the SZ visible to Windows, first try making either a manual Full or Incrmental to the SZ and see if you get the same error message.

It might be that the MFT (Master File Table) has become corrupted and is reporting the wrong size. The other possibility is that TI has had a fit in which case there are a number of options that can be looked at.

If it looks more like the MFT is up the spout, then running chkdsk/r from a Windows Command Prompt might solve the problem.

Apologies for being slow in getting back.

Build number 6,053

Disc management says disc is healthy.

Can't make manual back up as disc is full.

Scheduled back-up ran at boot-up this morning and, according to the log, was completed successfully. Ok so far. But the Home Page says: "Your system is noit fully protected. Perform the following actions. Back up my system." What does this mean? Somebody please explain.

It is nothing to be concerned about. It is just telling you that you haven't run the System Protection task on your system.

If you've made a full disk image or a complete C:\ partition image then you've already got the system in image.

Not if you have made a full disk image or one of the C:\ partition.

It is the One-Click-Backup option that you'll have as a shortcut on your desktop or can be chosen from TI itself.

Hi Colin. I have a full image (I hope) in the SZ on the, in my case, F disc. I'll see what happens at boot-up tomorrow morning, the next time a back-up is scheduled. Thanks for your help. Regards, Paintbrush

Log shows back-up operation completed successfully this morning but home page again says the system is not protected. I'm hesitating about clicking the one-click option Colin suggested as I might eff the whole thing up.
