Does ATIH 2012 Work?

Thread needs solution

Hi All,
I think I am losing touch with technology in my old age...
Has anyone ever installed ATIH 2012 full version or ATIH 2012 upgrade and had it work straight out of the box, without any issues or troubles, backed up anything to anywhere and recovered the data as well? Has it actually worked as stated on the box?
I browse the forum every couple of weeks to see how it is tracking and I can see a lot of pain and suffering going on; lots of people in the community helping one another and trying different fixes. It is great to see so many helpful people and grateful people getting together.
But really, am I over-simplifying it? Shouldn't we expect it to work?

We have troubles with network shares, NAS, ISO, GUI, opening files, completing backups, restoring backups, consolidating, installing, browsing, control panel, file properties tabs, devcon, DLL's, etc.
Do I get it? Is this what I should expect from software? Install it and run it...and then work for weeks, days or hours to get it running properly; if ever.

P.S. Just to reiterate: I love the willingness and helping human hand of every contributor to this forum, including Acronis staff, and I humbly hope some of my own posts have been helpful. I'll be the first to admit though, I am not a computer guru and don't have the in-depth understanding of most of the contributing posters here.
I must be getting old and grumpy because I just don't understand why it has to be so hard...

It shouldn't be so hard.
If you have a backup solution that works now, make sure you want to experiment before you install 2012. I played with it a long time in a virtual machine, before uninstalling 2011, and installing 2012 on my main computer and the first pass was catastrophic. I restored a 2011 image and upgraded in place with my security software turned off, and it was a picture perfect upgrade.

Note that I use only disk and partition backups (not T&D, NSB, file backups, email backup etc. which I find unreliable). But they seem to be working fine on my system, except for email backups that cannot backup files with attachments.
