Does True Image 2015 have to be installed to create an image?

Thread needs solution

More specifically, can I boot a disk/flash/CD and create an image of an existing laptop (Windows or Linux), or do the same to restore a previously-created TI image? What I've read so far isn't conclusive on that matter. Thinking about picking up a copy to swap images on a laptop as needed between Win7/Win8/Ubuntu.

Thanks.

I created a DVD from the downloaded iso. The 2015 version works just the same as the older versions. I imaged an ext4 partition on my second internal drive that has Elementary OS installed. 2015 should work well imaging your Ubuntu partition. If you restore a Linux OS partition you will have to manually redo the Grub Bootloader for the system to boot.

As Chloe says, the recovery environment is available for download in your account. The only thing you can't do as far as imaging is concerned is set up a schedule, otherwise everything else is the same.
