Driver location for Universal Restore

Thread needs solution

Hi
I have TIH 2014 deluxe and want to use the universal restore feature. When it asks for the driver location will it locate them if I refer it to the original MB driver disk or do I have to copy drivers to a different location ;ie flash Drive or other drive on machine I'm installing to? Also what form do drivers have to be in :ie .exe, inf. etc? Thanks

Hi Norman,
Happy to try and help. If you have 2014, ensure you are using build 2014 Update 3 build 6688 which is a separate download.

Before applying Universal Restore to a Windows operating system, make sure that you have the drivers for the new HDD controller and the chipset. These drivers are critical to start the operating system. Use the CD or DVD supplied by the hardware vendor or download the drivers from the vendor’s Web site. The driver files should have the *.inf, *.sys or *.oem extensions. If you download the drivers in the *.exe, *.cab or *.zip format, extract them using a third-party application (e.g. free 7-zip tool or any other).

Thanks. I noticed that there is an iso for "Universal restore". Is this intended to be used as a standalone in place of the feature incorporated in the versions of TIH or does it work in conjunction with the others? I downloaded the drivers from Gigabyte site but they are in an installer package. Not sure how to get the file formats required out of package as all it wants to do is install them. Would appreciate any suggestions. Thanks
