[DUPLICATE] Fatal error installing trial version
I downloaded the trial version and tried to install. It went for several minutes, then aborted with the attached "fatal error" message. I then clicked on the Knowledge Base link and got the message (screen shot attached) that there is no information available.
What now?

That sounds dangerous. How do I ensure that everything gets put back the way it was? Do I have to write down each entry?

Pete,
Follow the instructions carefully. If you don't tweak your system, all services should be enabled. Some users venture into tweaking... Knowing this, just write down the ones that are not, if any.
Wrt to startup items, same thing, with less risk.

You are correct about the services. All of them are enabled. There about 100 in all (10 screens).
However, for the startup entries, 16 are enabled and 34 are not. I guess I just record the 16 that are.
One of the reasons that I am nervous is that I just had a very bad experience with a tech from a local IT support company. In an effort to speed up our machines, he disabled a bunch of start up entries. As it turned out, that included several that he didn't know what they were for. After he left, I realized that he crippled the touchpad, the speakers, and 2-3 applications that I need.

Pete,
Users sometimes try to tweak their system to get more speed and disabling startup items help. In doubt, leave startup items enabled.

Hello everyone,
Thank you for your posts and your help Pat.
Pete, could you please check the following sticky thread and post the .msi log together with the Windows system information file there so that we can understand why the installation failed.
Thank you.
