Eliminate references to old backups

Thread needs solution

On my win 7x64 notebook with external hard drive backup, I am trying to eliminate log references (error notifications) to old backups that cannot be found. I am currently doing incremental backups to full backup #11, and I get error messages saying backup 5 or backup 6 cannot be found. My Backup scheme has always had Automatic Cleanup specified, to eliminate anything older than last 4 Full plus incrementals. I do a Full backup once a week, followed by 6 daily Incrementals. The backups do seem to occur despite the error messages, but I am tired after 2 years of 3-4 error message e-mails during each backup.

Steps I've taken so far:
1) On advice of Acronis Support Chat, I completely removed True Image 2013 (the program I started with 2 years ago.

2) Purchase and install 3 machine edition of ATI 2015 3 days ago.

3) Change target external disk drive to a newly formatted EHD with a new name.

4) Create completely new incremental backup plan with a different title.

Now, after one full and one incremental backup, ATI has stored these new backups in a folder it created called Acronis Backups, on the external hard drive. It has given the initial Full backup the number "full_b6_s1_v1" and the Incremental "inc_b6_s2_v1.

Why would it start with the number "b6"?

Only clue I can think of is that, although I gave the external hard drive a new name, Windows still refers to it as "Drive D", the same letter as my old setup. Do I need to give the drive a different letter, then start from scratch?

Thanks for any help!
