email backup windows credentials not accepted

Thread needs solution

I tried to back up my outlook email (exchange server). Acronis is asking for windows credentials. The correct credentials for admin are not accepted, also the outlook exchange loging username and password don't work. I just want a single backup, no scheduling.

This security feature has not been in previous versions and does not make sense. How can I get the backup running or eliminate that security question?

well it worked ! I have two spaces between the first and second word of my user name not the one space I was typing .
user name and password accepted on custom scheduled setup and is backing up now

Since I am not receiving any help neither through hthis forum nor via a support ticket I have bought outlook backup from wisco which works perfectly well.

Hello all,

Thank you very much for all your posts and your valuable feedback. Please accept my apologies for the inconvenience and for not replying earlier but I will definitely help you with this issue.

Our Development is aware of this problem and we will fix it in Update 1. As a workaround, please check that you are using the actual Windows user name and not the name from Windows user account. Please check this detailed article for instructions.

If you have additional questions please let me know.

Thank you.

I use Windows 7 (64bit) and had the same problem of not understanding the term credentials. I found the term in Windows Control Panel > User Accounts. I do not have a password. But entering my account name in the Acronis dialogue box, leaving the password box empty, then OK allowed me to arrange regular Email backups.

The Acronis Moderator above points to using compmgmt.msc to find information about local users and groups - but that category is not listed in the left pane of the Computer Management window on my PC.

I hope my contribution helps.

Regards,

Dimitrius

this facility is truly useless - I currently run a dual boot 32bit and 64bit Win 7 system with Outlook 2010, and on both systems all that Acronis does is backup 512 bytes of "some" information - it obviously has no idea of the location of the PST files - which are password protected (it never asks for any password) and sit on my WORK HDD not in the "users" system folders and with the archive PST are in excess of 1GB.

I thought this might be a useful feature, but fortunately I am still able to use the Microsoft PST backup tool that is free and has been around for some years - you just need a regedit to Outlook 2010 to get it to run at termination of Outlook.
