Email notification STILL does not work

Thread needs solution

Using TI 2014. Spent long time trying to get email notification to work. Every test message fails. Have tried all recommendations and configurations found in the Forum and on the Internet. Nothing works. As I have had no difficulty sending a test email message from two other imaging programs (E and M) using the recommended out and in settings, it seems that this is a TI problem. Complaints about TI's problem with email notification go back several years, so what is holding up a resolution? While email notification is not TI's top feature, I do want to be notified ASAP if an image backup failed. Have been unable to find out if this problem is corrected in TI 2015, for which I have received an email about upgrading.

Thanks for any help.

Success with email notifications varies among users. Most recently, there was a change in Windows which seemed to make many users to change their acronis settings to SSL and 587.

One way to test the new version would be to try the trial version.

If you decide to try, be ABSLUTELY certain to perform a full backup with your existing version first.

I would uninstall existing TI before installing a newer version.

Greetings Gents,

DavidK,
Acronis uses simple relay to send email notifications. Is it possible the port you are using is being blocked? What mail server are you using, and which port? Have you tested telnet to your mail server from a command line?

I am not going to try any more tests. The telephone notification works just fine with two other image making programs using all the same port settings. The fact that this has been a topic of discussion on these forums for over five years suggest this is a problem for Acronis to fix, and not its users trying different ports and what-not and "success...varies among users." What's next? A sticker on the box that says, "Good luck with this program." In fact, for the time being, I have uninstalled True Image, which I have been updating for years at my expense, and am instead going to rely on those other two very reliable programs.

This is a P.S. to my last message. I didn't mean to imply that I was abandoning TI solely because of the email notification glitch. Last month, I had a major crash of my system, thanks to downloading a program from a site I thought was safe. Nothing worked to restore my system, so I turned to TI to recover my last image. What a surprise to find out that the image was corrupt and unsuable. I had to use an image that was a week old, and lost all the work that had been done since. If email notification worked, I assume I would have been told that the image was corrupt as soon as imaging ended. In any event, I kept running into issues with TI (look at this Forum!!) and decided to abandon it.
